CLEAN ENERGY PARTNERSHIP GIVES DELEGATE JIM HUBBARD A 2006 MARYLAND CLEAN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP AWARD

Friday, June 16, 2006

(SILVER SPRING, Md.) – The Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) announced that is giving Delegate Jim Hubbard a 2006 Maryland Clean Energy and Environmental Leadership Award. Delegate Hubbard is one of only three elected officials in all of Maryland to receive the honor.

“Del. Hubbard is the leading voice for clean, renewable energy solutions to global warming and air pollution,” said Gary Skulnik, CEP Executive Director.

Delegate Hubbard was a lead advocate for the Renewable Portfolio Standard, a landmark bill that requires a portion of Maryland’s electricity to come from clean renewable sources. He was also a top sponsor of the Healthy Air Act, arguably the strongest clean air bill ever passed by a state legislature in the nation.

“Jim Hubbard is the strongest environmental advocate serving in Annapolis, bar none” noted Skulnik. “He is the go-to guy for anyone that wants to pass legislation that will clean our air, lessen global warming and ensure a cleaner, better future for Maryland.”
