DELEGATE JAMES W. HUBBARD AMONG THOSE HONORED BY MARYLAND HEALTHY AIR COALITION

(Bowie) – Maryland State Delegate James Hubbard was one of four members of the state House of Delegates honored Thursday, July 25th by the Maryland Healthy Air Coalition.  A long-time leader in state efforts to protect the environment, Hubbard was honored by the Coalition for his role in winning the enactment of the Healthy Air Act of 2006. 

Hubbard is one of the most honored Maryland state delegates for his work in the environmental arena winning the Distinguished Environmental Leadership Award from the Maryland Conservation League and awards from The Sierra Club, Maryland Clean Water Action, Maryland League of Conservation Voters and Maryland Clean Energy Partnership, among others.

 “We can create a win-win situation here in Prince George’s County, protecting both the environment and our business interests in order to keep this great State moving in the correct direction,” Hubbard said.

A three-term member of the Maryland House of Delegates, Hubbard represents Legislative District 23-A, of Prince George’s County which includes Bowie, Glenn Dale, Lanham, Seabrook and portions of Mitchellville and Laurel.  In June, he announced plans to run for a fourth term.

Hubbard is also the Maryland House of Delegates representative to the Environment Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and serves as co-chair of the Clean Air Working Group.  He serves on the Governor’s Children’s Environmental Protection Advisory Council and most recently was appointed by the Maryland House Speaker to serve as the House liaison to the Chesapeake Bay Commission.

Joining Delegate Hubbard in accepting the Healthy Air Coalition’s thanks were State Senate President Mike Miller, State Senator Paul Pinsky and Delegate Dereck Davis.
